Netflix has announced that Bridgerton season three is set to make a return to the streaming platform in 2024, and it will be released in two parts. The first four episodes are scheduled to premiere on May 16, with the next four becoming available to stream on June 13.
The upcoming season will focus on the budding romance between Penelope Hetherington, portrayed by Nicola Coughlan, and Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton.
The official synopsis teases that Penelope will have to navigate her strained relationship with Eloise Bridgerton, portrayed by Claudia Jessie, who has found a new friend in an unexpected place. Additionally, Penelope will face the challenge of keeping her alter ego as Lady Whistledown under wraps.
In an interview with Variety, Jess Brownell, who has taken over show running duties from Chris Van Dusen, expressed that the upcoming season will delve into the dynamic between Colin and Penelope, as it is their time to shine.
Brownell mentioned that they wanted to explore the tension between the characters and push their storyline forward, rather than maintaining the status quo.
Bridgerton season three is produced by Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen. The cast includes a talented ensemble of actors such as Luke Thompson, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, Lorraine Ashbourne, Hannah Dodd, Simone Ashley, Jonathan Bailey, Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, Jessica Madsen, Florence Hunt, Martins Imhangbe, Will Tilston, Polly Walker, and Julie Andrews.
