There was a big train disaster in Romulus near Wick and Shook Road, just north of I-94, at around 9:30 on Thursday morning, as per CBS, which cited a number of reports and updates from officials.
Fifteen cars derailed, according to Brian Tucker of CSX Transportation, based on preliminary findings.
The public is not at risk, and there were no spills or leaks.
Furthermore, no members of the train crew were hurt in the course of the incident.
The Wayne County Emergency Management Team and Romulus first responders arrived on the site. The majority of the rail cars were empty, according to Robert A. McCraight, the mayor of Romulus.
McCraight reports that efforts are underway to move pupils from Wick Elementary School and Romulus Middle School to Romulus High School as a precaution.
At the end of the day, the children will continue to follow their usual bus schedules and be dismissed at regular hours.
There are traffic closures in the vicinity due to the derailment. According to officials, the incident resulted in the closures of Wick Road between Ozga and Tobine Streets and Shook Road between Tobine Street and Wick Road.
